Celebration of Life for Cecilia Stetner

STETNER, Cecilia Johanna September 23, 1937 – April 9, 2025

With sadness in our hearts, we share that Cecilia — beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, at the age of 87 years. She was surrounded by her family in her final moments.

Cecilia was the younger of two daughters born to John and Gertrude Woldrich (née Koren). She was predeceased by her husband Norman in 2014; Father John in 1978; and Mother Gertrude in 1991.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Anton (Audrey) of Ajijic, Mexico, and grandson Mark of Gillies Bay, BC; Michelle (Wayne) Kirby of Regina and grandsons Justin (Kristine) of Singapore and great-grand-daughters Mia and Amelia and Neil (Caitlin) of Regina; and Douglas (Robin) of Coquitlam, BC. Cecilia is also survived by her sister Trudy (Don) Sjoberg of Edmonton; nieces Kathy (Gerry) Trepanier, Ruth (Lorne) Sjoberg, and Linda (Dave) Hut; and nephew Steve (Yuko).

Cecilia married her high school sweetheart, Norman, in 1955. She devoted herself to raising their three children as a stay-at-home mom, spending cherished summers with them at B-Say-Tah. She had a creative spirit and took great pleasure in sewing, refinishing old furniture, sketching, and framing her artwork. When her children were old enough to be left at home — “without fear of burning down the house” — Cecilia returned to the workforce as a school office assistant at Arcola School, Marion McVeety School, and Henry Braun Elementary School. In retirement, she and Norman travelled extensively, taking every opportunity to explore together until his passing in 2014.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Unit 3-6 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for their kindness and care during Cecilia’s time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cecilia’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Friends and family are welcome to join Cecilia’s family for a Celebration of Life held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
